Wherever you are in the world, be sure to follow these golden rules!-
- Stay hydrated. Can’t stress this one enough! Dehydration, even mild, has been shown to put stress on our cognitive functioning. In young adults, for instance, dehydration was linked to a dip in concentration & short-term memory, as well as an increase in feelings of anxiety and irritability💧
- Wear sunscreen! Whether it’s 30 degrees and the sun is beaming down at you, or rainy & a sky full of clouds, it’s still important to protect your skin from the effects of the sun. And snow days are still sun days - in fact, snow can multiply your UV exposure because it reflects the sun’s rays. Not only are they hitting your skin from above, but they’re also bouncing off of the snow on the ground, leading to twice the exposure ☀️
- Move around! Occasional lying down all day won’t harm you, but a consistent sedentary lifestyle could put you at risk. Even if you’re mentally stimulated by working at a desk or on your phone, you still need to move around. Being too still, for too long can lead to a higher chance of: Osteoporosis, blood clots, chronic pain and diabetes 🏃♀️
- Try to find some joy! Smiling and laughing, for even a brief amount of time has been proven to cause physiological changes in our body & mind. The benefits include a reduction of pain, and increase in serotonin and a strengthened immune system! 🥰😁
- Eat well! Did you know that you can still nutritionally starve even if you eat a large amount of food? It’s important to make your calories count, without worrying about counting calories. *Please always talk to your GP before altering your diet in any major way* For peace of mind that you’re getting all the essential vitamins + minerals you need, you can rest assured that @peachyvits will be ideal for this 🍑
